The Cause Setting Up To Be Bigger, Better Than Ever!

On October 23rd, 5-11pm at the Ryerson students Centre, the TYC is holding its big annual event, The Cause!
A gathering of youth led organizations and their community advocates, the purpose of The Cause is for youth to network with community leaders and find the cause that motivates them. This year’s theme is civic engagement because the election is 2 days after the event. We have workshops, food and entertainment going straight on into the night. Last year we had it at the AGO. It was a huge success, with more than 200 attendees. This year, we are looking to make it even bigger and better.

We are currently accepting booth sponsorships! Come feature your organization and connect with young people from all over Toronto. In the past we have had organizations such as Youth Employment Services and the AIDS Foundation run booths at our event, and they have given some very positive feedback about connecting with youth through this type of outreach.

The next Cause planning meeting is Thursday August 26th 6-8pm, in the Toronto Youth Cabinet office located on the 15th floor of the East tower of City Hall, we are looking for volunteers! if you would like to pitch in, there is plenty of room to help out and support one of Toronto’s most inspiring youth events!
There are some great workshops planned for this year, with some big Toronto names running them. I’m not going to give away the surprises, however 2 of the workshops featured include a follow up to the G20 by a group that has since been heavily advocating for Toronto’s youth, and a theory of sound workshop put on by 2 of the most diverse musical geniuses in our city.

We are set for a banger, we had a great year last year with great entertainers and this year looks to be even better! Jag Chhabra is in charge of planning the event, so contact her to get involved, secure a booth or if you have any general questions about the event. Her email is jagjeetchhabra11@hotmail.com

Stay tuned for more info on The Cause 2010!
